The difficult part about panic attacks is that they can occur when you least expect them. You will not be prepared to deal with them when they occur.

You might be busy with some work or might be having fun with friends. Suddenly, you get a panic attack!

Such things will create an impact on you and leave you fearful of engaging in the activity where panic attack happened.

However, in most cases, that particular activity or place had little to do with the attack.

So, you do not need to avoid those situations or places. You can go on living as usual.

It might seem difficult at first, but when you learn not to let panic disorder affect your life, it will lose its power. This problem will then stop haunting you.

The initial courage may be the difficult to muster up. For this reason, do not try to take big steps to tackle your problem.

You are better off, taking small actionable steps which can help to overcome panic attacks. As an example, if you are afraid of going shopping, take a friend along with you who is aware of your disorder.

If the doctor has prescribed any pills for you, keep them handy just in case. This way, you will feel more confident in going to places where you fear another attack.

Just don’t try to go alone. Trying to become too brave all of a sudden may backfire at you. Be patient, and try to take little courageous steps in the right direction.

Keep reminding yourself whenever you can that panic attacks are not dangerous. You get a feeling as if you are about to have a heart attack. But that is just a feeling – you are not having a real heart attack.

You might not have heard of anybody dying from panic attacks, have you? These attacks only seem to be dangerous – but most of the time in reality, they are not so.

Once this is ingrained in your mind that panic attacks are not dangerous, you will feel little bit more safe. You will know that even if another attack happens, it is not going to cause any real damage to you.

Likewise, take baby steps in the positive direction which help in raising your courage. Everyday, try to move in the positive direction in order to overcome panic attacks.

If you keep taking small steps, you may find, that you have stopped fearing panic attacks. They will then fade away on their own.

Avoid taking pills or medication for this problem, as much as you can. Consult a doctor before taking any pills, and only take them when absolutely necessary.

Natural methods of treatment or behavior therapy are far better alternatives to learn how to overcome panic attacks. They are not likely to cause side effects like medication.
