The cause of mesothelioma cancer:

The cause of mesothelioma cancer:

Mesothelioma is a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos without sufficient protection over one’s mouth and nose. Asbestos is a fibrous mineral which was discovered in the 1860s but not properly used until the 1930s. Asbestos was used hugely in construction due to its property of being fireproof even at high temperatures. It was not until the 1960s that it became clear that asbestos was causing a number of diseases. These diseases include mesothelioma, asbestosis and lung cancer.

Asbestos as the cause of mesothelioma:

When exposed to asbestos without sufficient protection, a person will inhale many tiny asbestos fibres that are suspended in the air. These will pass into the respiratory system and get most probably get lodged in the lining of the lungs. An accumulation of these fibres can cause the cells around it to become abnormal and this can lead to mesothelioma. Through the lymphatic system, asbestos fibres can become lodged in the lining of the abdomen or in the lining of the heart.

The suffering endured by patients of mesothelioma:

The symptoms of mesothelioma vary depending on what type of mesothelioma a patient has. However, there are several common symptoms of all types. These include chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing, coughing up blood, weight loss and loss of appetite. These symptoms usually take affect only when the mesothelioma cancer has fully matured and developed. Due to the fact that these symptoms are frequent for a number of more common diseases such as pneumonia, mesothelioma is very difficult to diagnose in its early stages.

The treatments available for mesothelioma:

As yet, all treatments for mesothelioma have a low success rate. The effectiveness of treatment depends largely on how aggressively and early the cancer is treated. If treated in its later stages when it has fully developed, it is extremely difficult, almost impossible to cure. Treatments include surgery which comes in two forms, aggressive surgery and palliative procedures, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and dual therapy which is a combination of all three main treatments combined. Dual therapy has shown the most promising signs so far as a curer for mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma research:

Research is being undertaken in numerous research labs all across the United States although so far no breakthroughs have been made. Many pharmaceutical companies are also endeavouring to find new drugs for chemotherapy. Researchers have recently predicted that a long awaited new treatment method for mesothelioma is on the way to being discovered.

Stay Young Much Longer

The fast paced, high stress lives of professionals often take a serious toll on the health and well being of them. It’s in the hustle and bustle of life where it can seem impossible to squeeze in all of the duties and responsibilities we must attend to, let alone take care of our bodies and health.

Usually we only go to the doctor when something is seriously wrong or for our mandatory yearly check ups. While this may be the standard in our lives and amongst our peers it is by no means the healthiest way to live. Too often serious problems are only caught in their latest stages.

Stay Young Quite Longer

There are some tests, such as CT scans, that could be used to provide in depth testing of patients so as to identify big problems before these problems can manifest in major illness. Unfortunately, insurance companies keep doctors from using these tests on a regular basis in order to keep their own costs from going too high.

Dr. Mark Anderson and Dr. Walter Gaman both run Executive Medicine of Texas where they provide in depth, preemptive medical services. They understand how difficult balancing work, life and health can be and that to stay on top of your health you must be proactive. That is why they wrote the great book, Stay Young.

How to Stay Young Now

Inside their book, the doctors outline ten steps you can take so that even as you get older, you can still live out a ton of responsibilities and a heavy workload while staying healthy. Heavy importance is laid on the fact that you must be proactive with your health as you take care to remove any threats that come into being and identify health issues before they get serious.

The nice thing about these tips in the book is that you discover that it doesn’t take a lot of money to implement them in order to experience better energy levels and overall health. There’s no fad being shown here as it’s all about following scientific medical advice that will result in a longer and healthier life.

In today’s fast paced society, there are many professionals who are under a great deal of stress and it’s quite difficult for these professionals to be able to stay healthy. There are so many responsibilities and duties that must be met and caring for ourselves can seem almost impossible sometimes.

The time to see a doctor usually only happens once for a regular check up or when something really, really wrong happens. With this type of mentality, it’s usually too late when major issues are finally found out about. This is obviously no way to live out our lives in the healthiest manner possible.

Getting a Body Scan to Keep You Healthy

Today, insurance companies try to keep costs down by the way they keep doctors from being able to utilize testing procedures such as CT scans on a regular basis with patients. While these types of tests could find out about a major issue earlier, they are usually not performed until after the symptoms have already shown up.

Over at Executive Medicine of Texas, in depth and preemptive medical services are being offered by Dr. Walter Gaman and Dr. Mark Anderson. They have written a book called Stay Young in an effort to get the word out about how important it is to be proactive with your health even as you try to balance it with your work and regular life.

A Body Scan to Keep You Healthy

Inside their book, the doctors outline ten steps you can take so that even as you get older, you can still live out a ton of responsibilities and a heavy workload while staying healthy. Heavy importance is laid on the fact that you must be proactive with your health as you take care to remove any threats that come into being and identify health issues before they get serious.

The doctors give you great, solid tips on how to improve your health and energy levels without investing a whole bunch of money. This isn’t any kind of fad diet or hokey life plan. Instead, this is tried and true medical advice that is proven to help you live longer and healthier.

What is mesothelioma?

What is mesothelioma?

Mesothelioma is cancer of the mesothelium. Like most cancers, mesothelioma involves the abnormal dividing of cells of a particular part of the body — in this case, the mesothelium. Mesothelioma is so deadly because it remains dormant for many years and then begins to rapidly expand. The cancer then begins to invade and damage nearby tissue, including the vital organs.

What is the mesothelium?

Many of the internal organs of the body are protected by a membrane called the mesothelium. This membrane in actual fact consists of two layers of cells. The inner layer surrounds the organs, and the second is a sac surrounding the inner layer. When organs within this membrane must move, expand or contract — such as the heart, lungs, bladder, and so on, they are able to do so simply because the mesothelium produces a lubricating fluid between the two layers.

Mesothelioma in most cases begins in the pleura or peritoneum. The pleura surrounds the lungs and covers the chest cavity. The peritoneum covers most of the organs within the abdominal cavity. Other mesothelium tissue is at the same time vulnerable to mesothelioma. These include the pericardium that surrounds and protects the heart; the tunica vaginalis testic which surrounds the internal male reproductive organs; and the tunica serosa uteri which is the membrane covering the internal reproductive organs in ladies.

Who is at greatest risk to develop mesothelioma?

Mesothelioma has a extremely specific cause – exposure to asbestos. During the first half of the previous century, right up until the mid 1970s asbestos was an important material used to insulate buildings, machines, heavy equipment, and a broad range of commercial applications. Simply because it was plentiful and inexpensive to mine, asbestos was used in many building products just like home insulation, floor, ceiling and roof tiles. It was at the same time used in commonly found commercial products such as brake linings and pipe insulation.

This meant that millions of people were coming in contact with asbestos on a daily basis. And since the effects of exposure to asbestos fibre often do not become apparent for 30 or 40 years after prolonged exposure, companies and health officials were slow to recognize the dangers of asbestos. As a result, shipyard workers, men and women working in asbestos mines and mills, workers producing asbestos products, workers in the heating and construction industries, and virtually all other tradespeople were exposed to asbestos fibres for extended periods of time.

Today it is understood that anyone working with or near asbestos has an increased risk of developing mesothelioma, so there are strictly controlled limits of exposure within the work place. But since the dormancy period of mesothelioma can often be 30 or 40 years, you will find millions of workers who are at risk because of their exposure within the decades before the safety controls were put in place.

What are the symptoms of mesothelioma?

Pleural mesothelioma – cancer of the pleura or lung lining – causes shortness of breath or chronic coughing. Other symptoms of pleural mesothelioma can include chest pain, chronic coughing, shortness of breath, fatigue, wheezing, hoarseness, weight loss, or blood in the phlegm from the lungs when coughing.

Peritoneal mesothelioma affects the lining around the stomach and intestines and is normally just as harmful. Symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma include pain or swelling in the abdomen, weight loss, bowel obstruction, anemia, and fever.

Many of the symptoms of mesothelioma can simply be mistaken for allergies or a common cold. Mesothelioma is often discovered when patients think they have one of these other common illnesses.

How Serious is Mesothelioma?

By the time most infected people become aware they have mesothelioma, it’s no longer dormant and becomes extremely aggressive. In its active phase, mesothelioma can travel quickly, and is almost impossible to stop. There are treatments used to keep the patient comfortable, but there’s currently no cure for mesothelioma. As many as 75% of those who develop the disease will lose their life within one year. The remainder can last for up to an additional six months.

This makes it extremely crucial to detect the disease before it enters its active phase.

How is mesothelioma diagnosed?

Mesothelioma is often not diagnosed until it reaches an advanced stage. This is due to its long dormancy period, and because once it becomes active the initial symptoms are similar to even more common and less harmful sicknesses just like colds or the flu. If a patient has a history of exposure to asbestos, then a complete physical examination is advised. This would normally include x-rays of the chest or abdomen and lung function tests. It might at the same time include a CT (or CAT) scan or an MRI. Both of these tests give detailed pictures of areas inside the body.

If these tests indicate the probability of mesothelioma, then it is necessary to perform a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. Doing a biopsy involves an oncology specialist taking a small sample of affected tissue and examining it under a microscope for signs of malignancy. Depending on the location of the affected tissue, carrying out a biopsy can be a relatively straightforward procedure. It normally involves the insertion of a small instrument into the suspect cavity. These surgical devices have both viewing and sample taking capabilities. So the oncologist or surgeon can take a look at the cavity from the inside, and in that case take tissue samples from different areas.

If mesothelioma is discovered, the initial tests are followed up with what is called “staging”. This involves more tests to determine how far the disease has spread.

How is mesothelioma treated?

Standard treatments include the regular options available to cancer patients: surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. At times, these treatments are combined. When the mesothelioma is discovered at an early enough stage these treatments can sometimes be effective.

Among the treatments that are used in order to reduce the effects of the disease are oxygen, postural drainage and pain killers. Many alternative treatment methods are also being tested, including attempts to strengthen the body’s immune system. Gene therapy is also being tested in an attempt to attack the problem at the DNA level. Other treatments being tried and tested include homeopathy, herbs and acupuncture. Unfortunately none of these have been found to be very effective once the disease reaches its aggressive stage.

As with all cancers, early detection is the best defense against mesothelioma. Anyone who has been exposed to asbestos has to be alert for symptoms and contact a doctor immediately. Detecting mesothelioma at the earliest stage possible drastically increases the odds of beating the disease.

Losing weight does not need to be hard. Just follow the eight tips for quick weight loss you'll be on your way to a slimmer and healthier body.

Losing weight does not need to be hard. Just follow the eight tips for quick weight loss you’ll be on your way to a slimmer and healthier body.

1. Follow the KISS principle and keep it simple. There is no need to prepare fancy recipes for weight loss, count your calories, or follow a complicated meal plan. It’s best to keep it simple, and this means basing your nourishment on fresh, raw plant foods – greens, fruits and vegetables, while limiting or eliminating everything else.

2. Make the salad your main dish: eat it first at lunch and dinner. Most of us have a tendency to eat more of whatever we eat first simply because we are hungry. The good news you can eat as much salad as you like – there is no need to control your portions. Since raw foods have high transit times, they fill you up and encourage weight loss. Just remember that a salad should include lots of greens and raw vegetables and fruits, if you like, with some lemon juice sprinkled on top. Potato salad or tuna salad, with lots of mayo and other stuff, don’t count. Successful, long-term weight control and health is linked to high consumption of raw greens, vegetables and fruits.

3. Blend your salad and drink it! If you find chopping and chewing all these greens and veggies exhausting or boring, just throw them into your blender with some juicy tomatoes, cucumbers, celery, add a little bit of water, if your blender cannot handle the job, and drink your salad instead. I recommend that you add some herbs – basil, cilantro, parsley, dill, and some sweetener – a little bit of honey, or some sweet fruit – to make your drinkable salad even more tasty.

4. Eat as much fresh fruit as you like, but at least four servings every day. Consuming lots of fresh fruit is satisfying and filling, so eat as many fruits as you like with throughout the day. Fruits are high in calories, compared to greens and vegetables, but it’s okay to splurge, especially if you have a sweet tooth. The best dessert is blended fruit, or blended frozen fruit. You can blend your fruits with greens, add some water, and you will have a delicious green smoothie that will satisfy your cravings for sweets and other unhealthy snacks.

5. Eat a variety of greens and veggies. There are a variety of foods that you can use to make vegetable salads, including lettuce (romaine, bib, Boston, red leaf, green ice, arugula, radicchio, endive, iceberg), celery, spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, onions, radishes, snow peas, carrots, beets, cabbage, and all kinds of sprouts. Even more vegetables can be eaten cooked – you can steam them or make into a delicious vegetable soup.

6. Eat limited amounts starchy vegetables and grains. To lose weight quickly, limit cooked, high-starch grains and vegetables to one cup per day. For simplicity, any vegetable that is not green should be considered to be a high-starch vegetable (except eggplant, peppers, onions, and mushrooms). Fill up on the raw vegetables and cooked green vegetables first. Starchy grains, refined starchy grains – such as bread, pasta, or white rice – should be even more restricted. If you decide to have some bread, a thin whole-wheat pita is a good choice for sandwiches. Limiting the portion size of rice, potato, and other cooked starchy vegetables to one serving is not necessary for everybody to start losing weight, only for those whose metabolism makes it difficult to lose weight. Most people can still achieve an ideal body weight by cutting our refined starches only, such as white bread and pasta.

7. Eat beans or legumes every day. Beans are considered a dieter’s best friend. Beans have a high nutrient-per-calorie profile and help prevent food cravings. They are digested slowly, which has a stabilizing effect on your blood sugar and a high satiety index. Eggplant and beans, mushrooms and beans, greens and beans and all high-nutrient, high fiber, low calorie main dishes. Add some beans to your salad, or have some bean soup. Eating soup helps you lose weight reducing your appetite by filling your stomach.

8. Limit animal and diary products. To lose weight quickly, eliminate animal products entirely, or limit it to just a little lean fish, such as flounder or sole, once or twice a week, and an egg white omelet once a week.

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that is usually found in those previously exposed to asbestos. Cancerous cells form in the mesothelium, which is a protective lining that covers most of the body’s internal organs. These cells typically form in the lining of the lungs, abdomen, or the sac that encircles the heart.

The average life span of a person diagnosed with the disease is about 4 to 24 months from the finding. About 3,000 people in the U.S. die of mesothelioma every year. People at risk are those who have been previously exposed to asbestos dust, including former steel workers, auto mechanics, mineworkers, and military workers, among many others. Their family members may also be at risk, as the asbestos dust from clothing can travel through the air.

Mesothelioma has an extremely long latency period, which means that symptoms of the disease may not emerge until 30 to 50 years after the initial exposure to asbestos. Pleural mesothelioma, which is the most common type and affects the area around the lungs, may cause shortness of breath, chest pains, and a persistent cough, which may lead to coughing up blood. These symptoms are caused by the build up of fluid between the lining of the lung and the chest cavity. The disease may start in the chest area and spread to other areas of the body. Other symptoms of pleural mesothelioma include weight loss, severe breathing trouble, fever, difficulty swallowing, and swelling of the face and neck areas. It should be noted that some people with the disease do not experience any serious symptoms at all.

Peritoneal mesothelioma is rarer than pleural mesothelioma, and affects the abdominal area. Symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma include abdominal swelling and pain due to the build up of fluid in the abdominal cavity, nausea, loss of appetite, and vomiting. Breathing complications and chest pains may also be present, as well as bowel obstruction, anaemia, fever, and blood clotting.

The rarest form of the disease is pericardial mesothelioma, which first forms in the area surrounding the heart. Tumors grow in the tissues around the heart and spread from there. Chest pain, shortness of breath, constant coughing, and shivering may be symptoms of this form of mesothelioma.

Diagnosis of the disease is oftentimes difficult, due to the fact that the symptoms associated with mesothelioma are similar to those of other conditions. The symptoms of the disease become more serious as the cancerous tumors enter the later stages of development, so people who have been exposed to asbestos at any time in their lives should contact their doctor immediately. Even if a person has never been exposed directly to asbestos but is experiencing any of the above symptoms, they should inform their doctor as soon as possible, as asbestos dust and fibres may have traveled through the air from items such as clothing.

People who have been diagnosed with any form of mesothelioma should immediately contact a lawyer. Individual states have their own statutes of limitation, meaning that there is a set time limit regarding how long a patient has to act on their diagnosis. When searching for a lawyer to handle your case, be sure to find one that has prior experience with mesothelioma cases. They will have the contacts and resources to take care of your case in a timely manner. The Internet is a helpful and efficient resource for a mesothelioma lawyer search.

Patients do not have to be concerned with paying lawyers up-front, since the majority of mesothelioma lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, which means that they will not request payment of any kind unless they successfully settle your case. Lawyers will usually take a 35% cut of whatever settlement or reward the patient receives, but patients seeking compensation for their disease have nothing to lose and everything to gain in going to a lawyer for help.

The average mesothelioma-related settlement in the U.S. is $1 million. Cases that go to trial average awards of approximately $6 million, according to the RAND Corporation. A bill called the Fairness in Asbestos Injury Resolution Act of 2005 (FAIR Act of 2005) introduced on March 17, 2005, seeks to create set amounts of compensation for mesothelioma victims, which would depend on their symptoms.

People who have mesothelioma are able to seek large compensation amounts because their disease is a result of a company’s decision not to take sufficient measures to protect its workers from breathing in asbestos while on the job.

History of asbestos.

History of asbestos.

There are four main types of asbestos; Amosite (brown fibers), Anthophyllite (gray fibers), white Christie, and blue Crocidolite. Chrysotile has curly fibers while the other three have rod like fibers. These fibers fragment into dust quite readily and waft into the air. They can adhere to skin or clothing and are easily swallowed or inhaled.

Half a century ago, asbestos was hailed by many as a miracle product. They said nearly anything could be made from this mineral. It as used as an additive to reinforce mortar and plastics. Asbestos fibers can also be separated into fine threads that do not conduct electricity and are unaffected by heat or chemicals.

Use of asbestos drastically increased during World War II. Shipbuilding incorporated asbestos extensively in freighters and support vessels to insulate boilers, steam pipes and hot water pipes. Asbestos became the miracle construction material as it was readily obtained, processed, and transported. After WWII cars used asbestos in brake shoes and clutch pads. Asbestos found its way into residential and industrial building materials, water supply, sewage materials, ceiling and floor tiles, and vermiculite garden materials to name a few products.

In the 1970’s, following the discoveries of the health dangers of asbestos dust inhalation, the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission prohibited the use of asbestos in several products that could liberate asbestos fibers into the environment during use. Regulations governing the use of asbestos and public concern since 1970 have created a significant drop in the use of asbestos in the United States. The same pattern has been seen in most of the developed world.

In 1989 all new uses of asbestos were banned by the Environmental Protection Agency while any old uses before that year were still allowed. The EPA suggested that schools inspect for damaged asbestos and eliminate any exposure or enclose it in protective barriers. Vermiculite, widely used in horticulture, became a concern of the EPA . They recommended outdoor use, limiting the amount of dust used, and keeping vermiculite damp.

Health hazards

Asbestos may create serious health hazards such as coughing, lung damage, shortness of breath, and lung cancer. Most people do not become sick in the early stages of contact but usually need continued exposure. This often means on jobs such as mining, milling, manufacturing asbestos products, and the building construction industry. Firemen, demolition and destruction workers, drywall removers, and anyone else involved in trades that involve destruction of buildings, ships, and automobiles are also exposed to the hazards of asbestos.

Over a number of years continual exposure to asbestos can cause very serious health problems, such as mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a rare type of carcinoma of the membrane that lines numerous cavities of the body, including the lungs, abdomen and heart, and has been associated with exposure to asbestos dust. In mesothelioma, the cells of the mesothelioma metastasize and damage adjacent organs and tissues.

Mesothelioma may not develop for a long period of time, often as long as twenty-five or thirty-five years before full blown symptoms appear. Not all workers who have been exposed will develop diseases, but workers who have been exposed to it may bring fibers on their clothing, hair, shoes, and skin home to their families. To circumvent this risk, most industries require workers to bathe and change their clothing before they leave work.

Dietary advice for Mesothelioma patients

Doctors and nutritionists may recommend a special cancer diet because many mesothelioma patients tend to lose their appetites due to worry over their condition. Also, those who are undergoing treatment may choose not to eat because of the unpleasant side effects they may experience. Chemotherapy and some medications may cause an imbalance of nutrients that must be corrected in order to keep the body as strong as possible and to keep the patient from losing an excessive amount of weight. Other side effects of mesothelioma treatment can include nausea, vomiting, constipation, dry mouth and a change in the sense of smell or taste.

In our childhood we were all told to eat our vegetables. Forcing down cabbage and sprouts was supposed to make us bigger and stronger. Well, so it is for mesothelioma patients. Diet is often an overlooked subject for cancer patients, but eating the right nutritional foods for strength and energy is just as important as taking the proper medication.

Mesothelioma patients undergoing treatment must follow a special cancer diet devised by their nutritionists. The details of every patient’s mesothelioma diet will vary. Some patients will need to incorporate more fat into their diets, while others may need more protein. Cancer diets involve eating the correct amounts of protein and calories as well as drinking the right amount of water to keep the ailing body replenished and energized. The body needs plenty of nourishment when it is going through chemotherapy or even when the patient is taking certain medications.

It is important that patients devise a cancer diet under the guidance of their doctor and nutritionist to ensure that they obtain the proper amount of nutrients to improve their quality of life.

Protein is important for any cancer patient because it helps repair tissue damaged by surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation. Protein also helps maintain a strong and healthy immune system, lowering a mesothelioma patient’s risk of infection after aggressive cancer treatments. The National Cancer Institute recommends increasing protein in a cancer diet with cheese, milk, ice cream, yoghurt, eggs, nuts, peanut butter, meats and fish.

Fats are an essential part of the cancer diet because they supply the body with the necessary energy it needs while undergoing treatment. The amount of fats a cancer diet should consist of is dependent on a mesothelioma patient’s age and body size. The National Cancer Institute recommends increasing caloric intake with such foods as butter, milk, cheese, honey, sugar, granola and dried fruits.

Water is another essential component of the cancer diet. Without a significant amount of water, the body will dehydrate. It is important that anyone undergoing cancer treatment drink sufficient water to keep their bodies hydrated and replenished.

Are you at risk of Mesothelioma?

Are you at risk of Mesothelioma?

If you’re above 40 and have ever been exposed to asbestos continuously for more than 2 months in past 15-40 years, in that case you are at risk of Mesothelioma. It’s a rare nonetheless deadly cancer of membrane cells, which covers some vital parts of our body like lungs, abdominal cavity and heart, called mesothelium. Like in other cancers, in mesothelioma the membrane cells divide ruthlessly causing abnormal expansion, which ultimately damage the lining of vital organ like lungs and abdomen.

Causes of Mesothelioma

Asbestos a mineral, used in different processes including building, shipyard and manufacturing in the days of World War II and for a few more decades, is the main cause of Mesothelioma.

Researches have proved that those who have worked in asbestos related industries are mostly at risk of Mesothelioma. The minute asbestos particles go into human body through nose or mouth during inhalation, talking or any other reason. They reach lungs or abdomen and damage the lining, causing Mesothelioma. Due to its long latency period, mesothelioma can attack you even 15 – 40 years after the inhalation of asbestos particles. Even the family members of person working in asbestos related industries can be vulnerable to mesothelioma.

Treatments for Mesothelioma

Because Mesothelioma is a newly found disease, many doctors may not be able to diagnose it. Nevertheless, when you have a known history of asbestos exposure you should ask your doctor to look for the symptoms of this disease.

The good news is that there’s a treatment for mesothelioma during the early stages. Some treatment options for mesothelioma cancers are surgical removal of the effected tissues; chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Nonetheless, the prognosis of later stage mesothelioma patients is bleak and the average survival time after diagnosis is 12-24 months.

Mesothelioma Compensations

The owners of Asbestos related industries were pretty aware of the health hazards of asbestos. However, they persisted with its use without having issuing any warnings or taking steps for avoiding the health hazards. This is the reason why US courts have awarded huge sums as compensations to the Mesothelioma patients/families by the companies/persons responsible for causing asbestos exposure.

A 100% pure essential oil is a liquid that is most frequently distilled with steam or water from the stems, leaves, bark, roots, flowers, and/or other properties of plants. It does not really feel oily to the touch, despite its name, and is more often than not clear. It has been used for hundreds of years and has proven to be beneficial in several areas associated with the physiology of the human body.

With pure essential oils, a little goes a long way because of their high level of concentration. This ensures they are easier on the pocketbook than lotions and creams that contain fillers. They are also not fragrances or perfumes and, therefore, contain no artificial elements as are found in many other beauty products.

A vast array of health and beauty products are on the market, but formulated cosmetics do not have therapeutic benefits. People have used various oils in aromatherapy, as antiseptics, and even to stimulate the mind body connection. Tea tree oil applied to the skin treats most skin fungus. Geranium oil helps treat headaches. Clary sage in the bath helps one think philosophically.

Aromatherapy involves a vapor of the essential oil being inhaled, coating your lungs and sinuses, and benefiting you depending on the choice of oil. Some oils have proven physiological benefits and are accepted in modern medicine and employed for a variety of uses. Some oils may have benefits that are as of yet unproven, either good or bad. Our advice to the readers is to always be cautious but definately enjoy the benefits of the oils. Watch some videos or read a few articles so you know what you are using and how and why.

When applied directly to the skin, as when one receives a massage, it can soothe inflammation, dull pain, serve as an antiseptic, or even stimulate digestion. For those interested in natural forms of skin care, these oils can also regenerate cells and serve as an anti-fungal making them highly desirable for those with various conditions that do not respond well to traditional forms of treatment.

Pure essential oils can impact the physiology of the body either directly or indirectly. Different essences often focus on different concerns. For example, peppermint can be taken orally and helps aid digestion. Mucolytic oils, on the other hand, are usually inhaled and help with respiratory problems. The majority of scents, however, are designed to directly affect the brain and nervous system.

Aromatherapy oils that are popular today usually are calming or serve to lift the spirits. Lavender and neroli are sedative oils, the scent of which calms the senses. Rosemary and marjoram, on the other hand, are stimulating oils which activate all of the senses and makes the user feel very awake and alive. For real excitement try some ylang-ylang or jasmine.

For health conscious women, essential oils are very beneficial for several cosmetic and beauty uses. Because they are natural and there is only one ingredient, there may be less to irritate you. Because the oils tend to put the user in a good mood, the body produces endorphins, which are chemicals that your body produces which make you feel good and stimulates healing and regeneration and enhanced immune function.
